Category D1 – Minibus Training

Who it’s for

This course is for anyone who needs to drive a minibus with up to 16 passenger seats.

It’s ideal if you:

  • Hold a full car licence and want to drive a minibus
  • Need a D1 licence for work, voluntary roles, schools, care services or community transport

  • Reversing and manoeuvring a minibus
  • Passenger safety and vehicle awareness
  • Hazard awareness and defensive driving
  • Full preparation for the DVSA driving test

Entry requirements

Before starting practical training, you’ll need:

  • A full car licence
  • A D4 medical
  • Theory Test (Module 1a)
  • Hazard Perception Test (Module 1b)

If you plan to drive professionally, Driver CPC Modules 2 and 4 may also be required.

We’ll help you arrange anything you need.

Training, tests and CPC in one place

We take care of:

  • Off-road reversing assessment (Module 3a)
  • On-road driving test preparation (Module 3b)
  • Driver CPC Module 4 training and test (where required)

You’ll take your DVSA test in our vehicle, so there are no surprises.

Course length

Training is in 4-hour sessions. Most learners complete the course in around:

  • 16 hours (4 sessions)
