The Driver CPC Initial Qualification consists of two parts, Module 2 and Module 4.
The Driver CPC Module 4 is the 'Demonstration test' or Practical part of the Driver CPC Initial Qualification. DMP Training are an approved Module 4 testing site so your training and test can all be carried out together.
Module 4 focuses on vehicle safety. The test lasts approximately 30 minutes. During the test you are required to demonstrate your knowledge and ability in the areas listed below:
To pass you must score 15 out of a possible 20 points in each topic area (75%) and an overall score of 80%.
You must pass the Driver CPC Module 2 before you take your Module 4. Often, we organise the Module 2 and Module 4 tests to occur after a candidate has taken their HGV driving course, although you can do Module 2 alongside your Hazard Perception and Multiple Choice theory tests and take the Module 4 alongside your practical training course.
During the test itself, the examiner will walk around the stationary vehicle with you asking you a series of questions which pertain to the subject areas listed above. You will need to be able to talk freely and confidently about the vehicle and its features.
To make sure that you are feeling confident and ready for the test DMP Training UK Ltd provides extensive training prior to each Module 4 test. Training and test last approximately four hours and includes running through a normal vehicle check, refreshing your memory on the important security and safety features of the vehicle and best practice techniques, and making sure that you know how to secure a load correctly, this is done on a load restraint demonstration trolley.
At the end of the test, you get your result right away.
